Membership of Cambridge Museum of Technology entitles you to:

• Free admission to the museum throughout the year.
• A regular newsletter to keep you in touch with what's happening at the museum.
• The chance to take part in running Cambridge's only working museum

When you join us you will be helping to preserve a unique part of Cambridge's industrial heritage for the future.

All are invited to apply to join the Cambridge Museum of Technology. No formal qualifications are required for membership.

We provide Membership Application Forms in two ways:

• A PDF form for you to print out, fill in and send in the post to us PDF application form
• A form in Microsoft Word, which you can fill in and send in the post to us Application Form (MS Word v.97 or above)

Volunteer Programme

Opportunities include:

• Education volunteer with the appropriate skills to work with schools and families covering both formal and informing learning. Experience required in teaching of the National Curriculum. Delivery of sessions are mid week and at weekends and include school visits, course events etc
• Fundraising skills to research and approach local and national funding bodies to secure the future of the museum. Experience of making funding applications welcomed!
• Accessioning of museum items, previous experience of using an IT museum accession system would be great but full training provided
• Secretarial skills to support both the Board of Management and Trustee meetings that take place approx. every 6 weeks in the evening. Preparation of agenda, minute taking and distribution of minutes would be required
• Administrative skills to co-ordinate the ongoing requirements of the museum. This will involve ensuring a weekly timetable of requirements are distributed to all involved in publicity, events, organisation of visits, CRB administration, ensuring volunteer availability, weekly telephone message etc
• Experience in museum display layout as well as setting out accompanying display text
• Museum housekeeping which will involve environmental monitoring and cleaning

Needless to say, there are always opportunities for those with the engineering and craft skills to maintain our exhibits!
