The museum is open, but not in steam

Easter to October - Every Sunday, 2.00-5.00pm
November to Easter - First Sunday in the month, 2.00-5.00pm
On these open days the whole of the museum is open and some of the non-steam exhibits can be running.
For information about steaming days and other special events, see below.

Please note that the museum's 1923 boiler which we use to raise steam to run the engines is out of service for the foreseeable future because is needs a major overhaul but that we are fundraising to carry out this work

A day of acoustic folk music. Come along to listen, perform, or both.

Steam Punk Halloween

Half Term Wednesday 29th October
Drop-in session from 10am - 12.30pm

Bored of the same old Halloween costumes? Come and make some Steam Punk themed animal masks inspired by the museum.
Admission: Standard admission prices with £1 suggested donation towards materials

Shadow Puppet Show

Professor Gallivanti's Marvellous Shadow Puppet Show
Festival of Ideas Event 234 Steampunk Creatures

2pm - 5pm, no need to book

Shadow puppet show based on European folk tales, performed by the wonderful Professor Gallivanti.
Be inspired by the museum's collection of Victorian machinery to make animal masks and your own shadow puppets in steampunk style.

The children's charge covers children between the ages of seven and 18.
Children under seven can visit for free!

Shop

Our ticket shop sells light refreshments and selection of souvenirs and guidebooks.
