Thanks to Heritage Lottery Fund we are beginning our major redevelopment, Steam, Sewage and Semiconductors: Preserving the Industrial Heritage of Cambridge.
This project will enable the Museum of Technology to open up the collections and the space to enthusiasts and our local community. We will create new exhibition space where you will be able to explore the world class technological innovation of local firms such as Pye and Cambridge Scientific Instrument Company which laid the foundations of the Cambridge Phenomenon.
We will refurbish our historic boiler which will enable us to bring back to life the engines in the Victorian Pumping Station and also reveal Cambridge's forgotten heavy engineering history. We will make the site more accessible and provide a new, Riverside cafe. Once the building works are complete, we will deliver a wide ranging programme of events, exhibitions and activities to suit everyone, delivered by new staff members including an Education Officer and Community Engagement Coordinator who will join the Curator and Assistant Curator.
We will be publishing our designs, schedules and work-in-progress update here in future.
