Rules, Guidelines and Prizes
Please read the following rules and guidelines carefully:
Rules of entry:
The competition opens on Friday 17th May 2019 and closes at midnight on Friday 13th July 2019.
The competition is open to entrants between the ages of 10 and 20. There are two age range categories: 15 years old and under and 15+.
Multiple entries are permitted, provided each is submitted on the official entry sheet accompanied by the author information. Entry forms are available from CMTFlashFiction@gmail.com.
Entries may be withdrawn from the competition by notification sent to the email address CMTFlashFiction@gmail.com.
All entries are judged anonymously. Experienced readers assist the named guest judge in selecting the shortlist. Judges’ decisions are final.
Winners will be contacted via email by the Friday 20th July 2019.
Copyright of each entry remains with the author. The competition organisers will contact winners before publishing their story on the website or forwarding it to any other party.

The Old Pumping Station,
Guidelines for story writing:
need to have a Steampunk theme and/or be set at the pumping station where the Cambridge Museum of Technology is situated.
must be entirely the work of the entrant and must not have been previously published (whether in print or online), broadcast, or have won/been placed in any other competition. (Entries which have been short- or long-listed elsewhere are fine.)
can be set at any point in the pumping station’s history (from 1892 onwards).
must be written in English and be between 500 and 1000 words in length (not including the title). Stories that fall outside this word length will be disqualified.
6 winners will be selected from the entrants. Three will be from the ‘15 years old and under’ category and three from ‘15+’ category. All winners will be invited to Cambridge Museum of Technology to take part in a character design workshop with artist Daniel Pearce on Sunday 11th August 2019. Unfortunately, no alternative dates are available and there are no cash alternatives.
An overall winner will be selected from the 6 winners. They will work with Daniel Pearce to develop the illustrations for their story. They will also receive a formatted e-copy of their illustrated story. There are no cash alternatives to this prize.
