The world-famous CHRISTMAS LECTURES are coming to Cambridge in December, when Cambridge Museum of Technology streams the live filming, direct from the Royal Institution (Ri) theatre in London.
Running for 200 years, the CHRISTMAS LECTURES were started by Michael Faraday to inspire and engage young people with science, and this year leading space scientist physicist, broadcaster and author, Professor Jim Al-Khalili, will tackle the awe-inspiring science of time.
This event is perfect for all the family! Children and people of all ages can come and watch the magic of the Lectures unfold in real time as they’re filmed in front of an audience in the Ri’s Theatre in London. They’ll have the chance to get involved with hands-on activities and be amazed by the mysteries of the Time.
Lecture 2
Jim breaks down why the idea of “now” has wracked the brains of scientists and philosophers for thousands of years. It’s a maddening contradiction that as soon as we try to grasp the present moment it slips into the past. Jim believes it could lead us to a deeper truth buried in the universe, a hidden arrow of time pointing from the big bang to the cosmic crunch.
