2026 Chesterton Festival:
FEATURING free LOCAL-heritage walks LED by VOLUNTEERS OF Cambridge Museum of Technology | CAMBRIDGE INDUSTRIAL ARCHAEOLOGY GROUP | CHESTERTON LOCAL HISTORY SOCIETY

• Free guided walks of Chesterton by local experts

• walks depart from Festival information hub at regular intervals throughout the Chesterton Festival Fun Day (check information hub for exact departure times)

Volunteers of Cambridge Museum of Technology, Cambridge Industrial Archaeology Group) and Chesterton Local History Society will be offering ~15-minute guided-heritage sessions during the 2026 Chesterton Festival. Explore Chesterton’s heritage – from the medieval Chesterton Tower, to Pye's development of radio, television, radar and and mobile communications.

The step-free route will follow pavements and dedicated pedestrian paths in a loop from Chesterton Recreation Ground.

ABOUT THE FREE, GUIDED INDUSTRIAL-HERITAGE WALKS

• Length (distance): approximately 30 minutes (<1km)

• Suitable for ages 12+.

• All-weather (except thunderstorms): come suitably prepared!

• No need to book: meet at the designated Chesterton Festival information hub on Chesterton recreation ground (CB4 1DT) at least 5 minutes before tour time

• free walk (N.B. this walking tour does NOT include admission to Museum of Technology). More guided walks offered by Cambridge Industrial Archaeology Group in partnership with the Museum.
