Have you always wondered what that big chimney was by the River Cam? Well, now is a perfect time to come and find out!

Our Museum will be open Friday - Sunday 10:30-16:00 all summer long. Learn about the story of sewage and waste disposal in the Victorian Pumping Station. Discover Cambridge’s forgotten industries in the Top Bay. Marvel at the town’s early high-tech companies in the Pye Building. Explore our industrial heritage around the site.

Friday Fun-days for all the Family

Join our education team on Friday afternoons (starting 21st of July) for some pop-up activities round the site! Come get crafty, get thinking and get creative as you explore all things STEM (or STEAM!).

Activities are optional and are included in your museum admission and will vary day to day.

View our Radio Enters the Home Exhibition Before it Leaves

Come see our temporary exhibition, Radio Enters the Home, before its set to leave later this year! Radio Enters the Home celebrates the centenary of the BBC and highlights its connection with local Cambridge company, Pye.

Fancy a guided tour? The Pye History Trust run a tour of the Pye Building, including the Radio Enters the Home exhibition, on the 2nd Sunday of every month at 2pm - the next one is August 13th!

Summer with the Museums

Summer with the Museums returns with two workshops here at the Museum!

The first, Rocket and Printing Workshop, will be 2nd August 10:30-12:00. At our Rocket and Printing Workshop you will design your own rocket using historic printing methods and learn about the forces required to launch them into orbit! 

This workshop is aimed at children aged 5-11. Booking is essential and cane be done here.

The Building Bridges workshop will run on the 23rd August 10:30-12:00. Our Building Bridges workshop encourages you to think about what makes a bridge work - what does it look like? How does it stay up? And, most importantly, how can it hold weight?

This workshop is aimed at children aged 8+. Booking is essential and cane be done here.

Awesome Events

There is plenty to see and do at the Museum over the summer - from fantastic folk music to mystical stories, we have it all!

Good Vibes Only with Some Voices Choir - Friday 21st July 7pm-9pm

Join Some Voices choir for the ultimate summer festival party as they raise the roof with irresistibly joyful hits in stunning harmony. Feast your ears on tracks from a dream festival line-up including Harry Styles, Tina Turner, Florence + The Machine, Blur and many more.

Folk Day - Saturday 22nd July 11am-8pm

This is the first of what Cambridge Museum of Technology hope will become a regular feature of the folk calendar. We will be showcasing performers from the local area selected and introduced by our partners from the Cambridge Folk Club and the Black Fen Folk Club.

Robert Lloyd Parry - Wednesday 30th August 7pm-9pm

Robert Lloyd Parry returns to the Museum with two classic midsummer tales about an ancient Greek deity in Edwardian England. E F Benson and Kenneth Grahame show contrasting sides of the great god Pan and what it means for mortal creatures to hear his pipes.

Fantastic Hospitality

There are more ways than just visiting the museum to experience our unique site!

Each day, the best coffee in Cambridgeshire can be found at Kerb Kollective, situation on our lower yard. These coffee experts serve a range of hot and cold beverages, some absolutely scrumptious buns and pastries, and, new for summer 2023, vegan soft serve ice cream!

From Wednesday to Sundays, the Engineer’s House will be open each evening (plus from 12pm on the weekend!), serving Calverley Brewery’s delightful craft beers and Al Forno’s delicious pizzas. The Engineer’s House is located next to the museum and has a wonderful view overlooking the river.
