On Monday 7 September 2026, Cambridge Museum of Technology hosted a visit from the Association for Industrial Archaeology, as part of the AIA's 2026 annual conference and tours of industrial heritage in East Anglia.

Members of Cambridge Industrial Archaeology Group and Museum volunteers gave presentations about the history of the pumping station and museum, CIAG's programme of talks and walks, and took the AIA visitors on a guided tour of the Museum.

About the AIA conference

This year's AIA conference was hosted in Norwich and featured contributions from museum volunteers:

  • Kieran Gleave presented to the AIA conference about his research of Cambridge cement works (previously previewed at a 2024 CIAG meeting)

  • James Klima and Gordon Davies produced a video tour of sites featured in this year's AIA tours of East Anglia.
