Explore the Museum

Have you always wondered what that big chimney was by the River Cam? Well, now is a perfect time to come and find out!

Our Museum will be open Thursday - Sunday 10:30-16:00 all summer long. Learn about the story of sewage and waste disposal in the Victorian Pumping Station. Discover Cambridge’s forgotten industries in the Top Bay. Marvel at the town’s early high-tech companies in the Pye Building. Explore our industrial heritage around the site.

Summer at the Museums

Summer at the Museums returns with three drop-in activities happening on Fridays across the holidays! These sessions are included in museum admission, and bound to be fun for all the family!

> Thursday 23rd July - River Cam Lab

Explore what lives within the river. Join us for a practical session, dipping to find all sorts of creatures that live in the River Cam. Learn about the impact of pollution and become a real citizen scientist, testing the water for river health.

Booking is essential, and all children must be accomanied by an adult.

> Friday 24th July - Secrets of the River

Learn all about rivers in this practical, hands-on drop-in session based at Cambridge Museum of Technology, overlooking the River Cam.

Learn all about rivers in this practical, hands-on drop-in session. Find out about how and where the river Cam flows to. Get stuck in to some messy play and build your own river. Learn about floating and sinking and the infrastructure that surrounds our local rivers.

> Thursday 27th August - Printing

Experience printing in different ways. Explore cyanotype or sun printing (weather dependent) and printing by hand at this free drop-in, included in museum entry.

Take inspiration from our Print Shop and celebrate everything print-related. Try your hands at relief printing, mono-printing and cyanotype printing techniques and get creative!

Awesome Events

There is plenty to see and do at the Museum over the summer - from fantastic folk music to guided tours, we have it all!

Folk Day - Saturday 25th July 11am-8pm

Following on from the success of our first Folk Day last year, we are delighted to be hosting another. We will be showcasing performers from the local area selected and introduced by our partners from the Cambridge Folk Club and the Black Fen Folk Club.

Guided Tours of the Pye Exhibiton

On the second Sunday of each month (next up is 8th August) join volunteers from the Pye History Trust as they guide you around the Pye exhibition — including our brand new Pye, What Comes Next.
